Top 5 love songs without the word "love"

 Hi!

Just letting you know that my piece on the Top 5 love songs without the word "love" in them has been published in Cuckoo Review.

When I shared it on Twitter Mike Scott replied to me, which was great and may give you an idea of what one of the songs could be!

I hope you enjoy the article.

Review: Shane Filan - Right Here

 Hello!

I'm pleased to tell you that my review of Shane Filan's new album Right Here has been published on The Mancunion.

I'd like to mention that the review has been edited in a way that makes me appear much more critical of the album than I actually was. In reality I found it made quite enjoyable listening.

 I hope you enjoy it,

 Hello!

I am delighted to see that this blog has reached 20,000 pageviews!

I started it in 2011 because I felt a real urge to share with others the songs and artists I respect and to give my opinion on musical issues. Four years later, I feel I have succeeded.

Highlights have included choosing songs for Radio 2, interviewing The Kennedys and Eddi Reader, meeting Edwina Hayes and Kieran Goss and attracting the attention of Martika, Paul YoungJohn Illsley and Mark O'Connor

I want to thank all of my readers for your support. Here's to another four years and hopefully many more views!

Review: Maura Kennedy - Villanelle

 Hi!

In my last post I recounted the wonderful night I spent in Southport watching The Kennedys, during which I picked up a copy of Maura Kennedy's new solo album.

Having listened to and greatly enjoyed Villanelle: The Songs of Maura Kennedy and B.D. Love, I wrote a piece for Cuckoo Review detailing how the album came into existence - because it has quite unconventional roots - and giving an overview of the different musical styles it incorporates.

I hope you enjoy reading it.

Eurovision article

 Hi!

I'm just letting you know that I've had an article about the Eurovision Song Contest published in The Mancunion, the University of Manchester's student newspaper. Check it out if you love Eurovision - or if you hate Eurovision. Hopefully in the latter case I can change your mind.
